A recap of the latest fashion news for the week of November 9, 2009: LuminoGlow, Giorgio Armani, Ellen Degeneres, Christian Siriano, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Barbie.

4. Handerpants: Underwear for your hand
The seller’s website explains these wacky things known as Handerpants the best:
Are you really naked under those gloves? For Pete’s sake, put on some Handerpants! These 95% cotton, 5% spandex, fingerless gloves have the look and feel of men’s briefs. Slip them on underneath your gloves for extra warmth and protection from chafing! Wear them on their own as a vaguely inappropriate fashion statement! Hundreds of uses! Fits most adult hands.

5. Christian Siriano’s Gift to Heidi on Oprah
Christian is a guest on today’s episode of Oprah, and together the host extraordinaire and talented designer call up Christian’s old Heidi Klum via Skype.
Heidi looks so gorgeous via webcam, without makeup and only 20 days after giving birth.

6. Music Giants Beyonce and Lady Gaga Collaboration
In the pop music universe, a Beyonce/Lady Gaga collaboration is like two supernovas colliding. We’re scared that such a project would spark a spontaneous black hole and suck the whole world into one of Lady Gaga’s giant hats or frog outfits. Turns out, the two megastars secretly shot a video for Beyonce’s “Video Phone (Extended Remix)” in Brooklyn last week — and not even the paparazzi got close enough to snap pics of the costumes or the set. It’s rumored that Beyonce wears a “feathered dress” and Gaga sports “something wild” (shocker!). Tune in to VH1 at 6PM on Thursday or check back here to watch the music video premiere.
7. Sugar Daddy Ken
And this is the best Mattel could come up with to celebrate Barbie’s 50th birthday? I can’t believe they created this Sugar Daddy edition of the Ken Doll. I thought Ken was supposed to sexy and masculine, not gay! I guess now we know why Barbie doesn’t have to work.
Mattel:
“Lookin’ for a sugar daddy? Head to Palm Beach with Ken! SilkstoneBarbie Doll body and part of the elite Gold Label Collection. Made with the adult collector in mind!
Join the cool sophistication in breezy Palm Beach! Sporting a dashing jacquard-patterned jacket with a light pink polo shirt and crisp white pants, this Ken Doll is ready for the Palm Beach social season, sunning by the pool, and a stroll with his furry little companion.
1. Prada makes mini-skirts for men
Miuccia Prada is creating something new for the Fall/Winter 2010 collection. In an interview with Purple Fashion Prada reveals “I’m working on [a men’s collection] right now and someone at the office worriedly asked me, ‘You’re not going to make short skirts again, are you?’ So I’m now pushing it even further, just for revenge!” She goes on to say that “Menswear should take cues from Womenswear, and not just the other way around. Menswear is so limited so I’m free with my ideas. Otherwise I’d die of boredom.” Marc Jacobs looks really good in them. Others should try it out.

2. Giorgio Armani getting ready to retire
The legendary 75 year old Giorgio Armani said “I’m already organizing staff who will continue my work.” After overcoming his fight with Hepatitis, he realizes that “I am not eternal, there comes a time en you must hand it over.” Giorgio, I hope you stay healthy for more years to come!

3. Plus sized night clubs
Being fat is cool! At least that’s what the new movement called “Fat is Phat” is saying. New clubs geared towards fuller-figured people all over the United States. This kind of a setting allows those who are bigger to be comfortable and have fun without getting looks from other people. Some people are worried that this kind of a movement will encourage people to remain obese in a nation where obesity is a national epidemic.

5. Shopping rules for the Jimmy Choo for H&M opening
With only a few days left until the Jimmy Choo of H&M opening, they are setting rules so that there won’t be a massive chaos.
What do I do if I arrive before opening hours?
If there is a line, please wait in line and H&M store staff will inform you how to shop. How does the queing system work?
The first 160 people in line will receive a bracelet; on the bracelet you will be given a specific time for shopping in our designated area. The bracelets are only needed for the women’s shoes, bags and accessories. Customers shopping the men’s collection or the women’s garments will not require a bracelet.
When your time has come, we will let you into the designated area to shop. Our goal is to create a better shopping experience for all of our customers.
If you are not one of the 160 first in line, you will of course have the opportunity to shop from the rest of collection or within H&M. After about two hours we will also open up the designated area for all of our customers.
To make sure as many customers as possible are able to buy from the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection, we have a limitation. Every customer can buy the whole collection but with a limitation of buying maximum one per product, i.e. not more than one size (shoes/garments) or piece (accessories) per product per customer. The limitation covers the whole Jimmy Choo for H&M Collection. Your place in line does not guarantee any items from the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection.

6. Stuffed Mouse accessories by Reid Peppard
Designer Reid Peppard as created some crazy and dead accessories for both men and women. Yet these little creatures are PETA-friendly.
Reid says : “Every effort has been taken to see that the creatures used in RP/Encore are victims of road kill, pest control, or natural death. The only exception to this rule is the occasional “feeder rat” (a rat that is bred and killed for the sole purpose of feeding snakes), and every action is taken to ensure that the remnants of these creatures is not put to waste, but is ground and fed to other animals.”
