What we are seeing this year especially in winter coats are faux fur trimmed coats, belted military inspired jackets, classic camel colored coats, bright colors and the cacoon silhouette. What we love about most of these styles is that you can easily make them work from day to night. No more wearing your puffy bubble jacket to a night out or to an evening soiree!

Most fashion shows are an exercise in slinky dresses, plummeting necklines and miniskirts the size of washclothes. Some, like last week’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, comprised even less fabric than that. But you didn’t find any flashes of skin on the runway at Rabia Z.’s One Night Only fashion show at Casa La Femme in New York last night. Instead, the Muslim designer draped her models in clothing that was totally chic while still covered up.

Rabia, whose tradition is “both Afghani and Arab,” calls her work “conservative couture” and aspires to design attire for women that’s modest but also modern. In 2007, she nabbed the Emerging Designer award for her debut collection at the Dubai Fashion Week. Since then, it’s been a fast track for Rabia in the world of fashion design for Muslim women; she showed at Miami Fashion Week last year and launched a high end street label, Ruby, and even designed an outfit for Barbie.

They came on 6-inch platforms and sky-high booties, donning spikes and leopard spots. Stiletto-clad fans lined up at Barneys New York in Beverly Hills on Thursday night to meet their idol, French designer Christian Louboutin, who was in town to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his red-soled brand, and his new book.

He signed copies of the self-titled book – -a sumptuous $150 monograph with still-life photos of his fanciful designs by David Lynch and Philippe Garcia — for nearly two hours. He also signed a leg cast for Melissa Dishell, longtime manager of burlesque superstar Dita Von Teese.

NEW YORK — Believe it or not, the Victoria’s Secret fashion show belonged to the boys on Wednesday night.

It was Kanye West, Jay-Z and Maroon 5 who got the audience clapping and cheering at the annual lingerie extravaganza at the Lexington Avenue Armory, quite a feat considering they were sharing the stage with the some of the world’s top models — in barely-there get-ups, no less.

The show, which also featured a song by Nicki Minaj, who was decked out in a bright orange bustier, cosmic-print skirt and leggings, and a frothy pink wig, will be televised on CBS on Nov. 29.

The worlds of fashion and music always come together on this runway, which is more for entertainment, excitement and brand-building than a serious preview of styles. It really clicked this time, though, when Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine escorted his girlfriend Anne Vyalitsyna down the catwalk and then planted a kiss on her cheek.

She was wearing a push-up bra covered with a crystal-encrusted body overlay. Model Constance Jablonski strutted to “Moves Like Jagger” in an illusion beaded gown with a feather mermaid hemline, and Karlie Kloss wore a corset-style bodysuit covered in tropical colored beads.

A lot of the backstage buzz before the show was about West, who was originally scheduled for the 2007 show but pulled out after his mother’s death. Doutzen Kroes and Chanel Iman were among the top Victoria’s Secret models, dubbed VS Angels, who posed with him in their micro-mini pink satin robes and told him they expected his set to be a highlight of the night.

“I lost my super hero,” he said when he eventually landed on the runway, “and now she’s my super angel.”

If “Where’s Waldo?” ever published a fashion edition, we imagine it would look something like this. Vogue editors have united in Japan this week in support of Tokyo’s Fashion’s Night Out, bringing all 17 international edition editors together for a rare meeting… and epic photo opportunity.

Anna Wintour sat in the center, of course, not only because she runs the Universe but also because she is the visionary and founder of Fashion’s Night Out. Tokyo’s version of the all-night shopping extravaganza will feature over 400 retailers and direct a portion of the evening’s profits in support of earthquake victims.

Although they were in Tokyo to shop, the 17 editors may have also talked — but only maybe, considering what Franca Sozzani once said:

“Do we talk with each other? Of course we do, yet in total autonomy regarding the decisions and lines we want to follow for our magazines. Are we competitive? Yes, of course we are. And the fact that Italy is number one is great, also in consideration of how small is our country if compared to others”

Last night, Kenzo converted their headquarters in Paris’ Palais Royal into a giant-pop up catwalk stretching throughout the ground floor offices and into the paved courtyard.

There, a sleeveless Jared Leto and Terry Richardson (full-sleeves) watched models walking down as amuse-bouches and anis champagne were served. (A newly brunette Chloe Sevigny even modeled the collection at another showing).

No need to remind you this is the first collection with Opening Ceremony founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim at the helm. Quite a stretch, you might think, between the retailers of cool and the Franco-Japanese house? Not that much, the two believe.

The collection began by paying homage to the Kenzo we all know: maxi leg trousers, color blocks and plenty of patterns. “But we reinterpreted this by bringing in elements from our own upbringing,” Humberto told us. “Growing up in the suburbs of LA, we looked at a lot of counter culture, and there is a lot of that in the collection.”

Our prayers have been answered: WWD is reporting that  Kate Moss will once again try her hand at designing, this time for LVMH jewelry line Fred.

The jewelry collection is inspired by Moss‘s many tattoos, and will accordingly feature anchors, hearts, stars and crescent moons done up in gold and precious stones. There’ll be 22 styles to choose from and the collection will go on sale starting October 1 in Fred stores in France and on its e-boutique.

But while Kate might be designing again, don’t expect the same friendly price points we saw from her with past Topshop collaborations. Prices will start at €350 ($473 at current exchange rates) for stack rings, and go all the way up to a whopping €35,000 ($47,300) for a diamond-and-ruby-encrusted “scarf necklace.”

Earlier this summer, WWD reported that Olivia Palermo would be launching a blog in August. But it’s almost the middle of September, and nothing has hit the web. So when we spotted the stylish starlet at Rachel Roy’s presentation, we had to get the scoop.

Fashionista: We heard you were going to launch a blog, is that still happening?
Yes, I’m launching this month. I pushed it back a little bit to make sure it’s just perfect; so it will launch at the end of this month for sure. We’re just working out the dates right now but I’m really, really excited.

Will you be doing any posts on NYFW?
I’ll be doing some posts and I have a wonderful team of writers that I’m working with. They’re definitely going to be touching on a little bit of fashion week here in New York and overseas as well.
