ZestyPink's Fall & Winter Fashion Guide for 2010

ZestyPink's Fall & Winter Fashion Guide for 2010
2010 Fall/Winter fashions bring about a surprisingly renewing effect on the already fresh. With travel and military inspirations, the light fabrics, blend-able colors, and natural makeup palette profess a certain air of intrigue and adventure, while boasting practicality and a renewed sophistication.

Aviator-Inspired Vintage Fashions

Take inspiration from wartime working attire with a jumpsuit that’s full length, nipped in at the waist, and tapered at the ankles. If you want to make the jumpsuit stand out even more as a masculine take, layer it over a shirt and tie; roll up the sleeves for a feminine touch.

Military Style

While military style clothing is not new to the fashion world, it continues to persist and evolve. This season we see pieces that are a lot more understated than collections from previous years.

Metallic Dresses

Step into the future of fashion in your metallic dress with fish scales or reptile scales making up futuristic forms. Metallic fabrics, plating, or detailing creates the futuristic robotic look. Any circuitry-inspired patterns, unusual, exaggerated silhouettes like pointed shoulder and cocoon shapes.

Sheer Dresses

Cut out and sheer? No, we haven’t got our seasons mixed up. Yes, sheer pieces are in for the cold months. Mixed with fine laces, the sheer trend in 2010 mixes elegance with sex appeal – and isn’t that the current, overarching theme to all fashion trends? Have the confidence to mix your sheer clothing with other trends and key looks and you’ll be onto a winner.

Over-Sized Knits

It’s time to part with low necklines. This Fall and Winter, seduction comes in the form of the oversized knits. To really add that touch of mystery, opt for dark colors and pair with the smoky eye look. Another trend boasting sophistication is the masculine shirt. Worn slightly loose, and buttoned up all the way, this style is exceptionally comfortable, and still adds that certain “je ne sais quoi”.

Buttoned-Up Collar Shirts

Refined sophistication underlies this burgeoning trend; so store those sloppy boyfriend shirts and revealing open collars. Whether it’s a sheer blouse, a crisp business shirt, or an elegant shirt dress, the only way to wear it in 2010 and 2011 is to button it up. All the way up. Buttoned-Up Collar Shirts coming to ZestyPink this Fall.

Leather Fashion

Leather remains dominant in everything from jackets to leggings to shoes to accessories, and let’s not forget – dresses. Don’t count on achieving a biker chick look with these dresses, however. The clean lines and silhouettes bring on a very sophisticated and feminine quality.

Fall Jackets & Capes

Bomber jackets, shearling-lined leather jackets, pockets, and cinched waists grace the runways. Not sure how to rock this fashion while preserving that feminine quality? Think Amelia Earhart. Also on the runway are Sherlock Holmes-inspired capes. These cloaks display beautiful structured draping, and the camel hue that has become a staple of this season.

Skinny & Tailored Jeans

The skinny jean gets a new look! We like to call it “second skin”, for its half jean, half legging style ups the body-hugging and elasticity factors so much, that you may even forget you’re wearing them! But skinny jeans aren’t the only big winners in the denim world; loose fitting jeans with rolled up hems are the comfortable, yet stylish alternative.

Leggings & Tights

Your thigh high boots may not set off every single outfit you have, so to keep the trend fresh and interesting, try thigh-high or knee-high socks. They are an innovative alternative to the boot, and offer many colors and patterns to choose from (not to mention, you can develop a wide collection as they are likely to span a more affordable range)!

Knee-High Boots, Fur Boots & Mukluks

The thigh-high boot is a must-have this season, only this time it doesn’t evoke the 60’s mod images of Jane Fonda and Brigitte Bardot. Instead, there is a shift to the elegant and mysterious as sleek, dark, suede, and leather versions walk down the runway. Also popular on the runway are stiletto ankle boots and laces.

Chunky Pumps & Platforms

Strappy sandals and summer flip flops are out. This Fall and Winter it’s all about the chunky. The platform heel now includes stilettos, color blocking, and excessive buckles. Looking for comfortability and walkability? Try closed-toe wedges or even flats!

Scarves

This season turtlenecks and high collars encapsulate a good number of designs, yet there is still room for the scarf. Light airy fabrics in animal print and displaying metallics add a pop, especially when worn with blazers. Winter pronounces much thicker, over-sized knitted scarves that keep the warmth in.

Ring Ornamentation

With fashion putting an emphasis on the masculine styles, heavy ring ornamentation is the perfect way to maintain that feminine quality. Wear rings – lots of rings – on every finger!! Layer them as well to achieve a hippie sort of look. But instead of extreme bling, try using more subdued stones such as onyx, garnet, and turquoise. Rings coming to ZestyPink this Fall.

Fall/Winter Makeup Trends

This season, less is more as natural looking makeup returns. With such neutral and dark garments on the runway, the natural face is refreshing and contrasts the heaviness of chunky heels and outerwear. For nighttime a smoky eye will add the drama while a matte finish keeps that clean, light look. If your outfit needs a pop of color, try lipstick in deep pink or mauve shades.
